Madame du Pompadour Pastel Portrait Drawing
21 x 25cm drawing of soft pastel on french pastel paper.
Madame du Pompadour was one of the most remarkable women in history, essentially the unofficial Queen of France at a time when power and influence were hotly contested. She brought political acumen and grace to the French court and ensured more justice and consideration in the Kings decisions. This pastel portrait uses lively colours to creatively reflect the colourful personality behind the beautiful face. Madame P was particularly fond of pastel pinks and greens and had a strong influence on the rococo design style that emerged during her 'reign'.
Framed in a cream painted timber with cream mount board under glass. Finished size: 33x37cm.
