She's Not What She Seems to Be

100x100cm square oil on canvas

Part of the 'Context' Series of paintings. A ground of greys, pinks, blue, white and yellow with clouds of navy and black. Signature pads of colour travel over the ground, some outlined. Activity is clustered in groups and open space is dotted with characterful marks - a spiral, white bar, zag of brow and navy circle. Brushstrokes of colours, lines and abstract shapes highlight the premise that the individual has a certain character based on the context rather than because of innate qualities. The painting has a rich variety in scale that adds depth. Dedicated 'looking' is rewarded with new visual experiences across the painting.
