The Touch Me series is a collection of 13 abstract expressionist oil paintings.
A month before this series started, the virtuoso brushwork of Chaim Soutine stunned me and the unequivocal confidence of Helen Frankenthaler (in video interviews) inspired me. One day, applying leftover paint to canvas in preparation for another painting, the impact of these artists surfaced. One brushstroke inspired another and something exciting happened. Two paintings emerged in one session; two spontaneous and beautiful palettes of colour, two landscapes of brushstrokes and one new idea coalesced...I want brushstrokes that touch the person who sees this - not the subject of the painting, the very brushstrokes themselves. That's the brief for these completely new paintings - make marks that affect the person who sees them.
I have a question about this series of pictures...
