This painting of yellow roses is part of my ongoing series of flowers. The initial inspiration came from a few images of yellow roses that struck me with their warmth and luminosity. Roses, of course, carry endless associations of beauty, delicacy and sentimentality—but I wanted to take them beyond being just a straightforward botanical subject.
What unfolded on the canvas is a work less about flowers themselves and more about the interaction of patterns.
