After a previous career in psychology, Valerie studied at the Royal College of Art and produced award-winning, experimental, contemporary artwork in four series exhibited in various shows and London galleries.

A return to art...
While in London attending the Royal College of Art, I witnessed the disconnection between the contemporary 'art world' and the views of most people on the subject of art. Whilst some contemporary art is sincerely thought-provoking and aesthetically pleasing, much of it is self-absorbed, technique-driven and silly.
Most people expect artwork to evidence a certain amount of skill, be legible without explanation and to convey uplifting sentiments. I agree. My newest work is a rediscovery of the value of art as an enhancement of one's surroundings. and a reflection of my attraction to the beauty of the English countryside.
